The Air-O-Swiss 7144 Ultrasonic Humidifier uses high-frequency vibrations to generate a microfine mist, preventing leaking and/or condensation on the unit. To avoid steam burn, you choose the pre-heating function and the mist then exits the machine at a pleasant 104 degrees Fahrenheit. A replaceable demineralization cartridge (Ag+ Ionic Silver Technology) ensures water mist without lime scale or mineral residues and a quad-band microbial protection system prevents microbial growth in the water base. To completely eliminate white dust buildup, though, it’s recommended to use reverse osmosis drinking water, which also has the added benefit of extending the life of the demineralization cartridge.
Most importantly, the Air-O-Swiss 7144 humidifier is equipped with ITC (Intelligent Temperature Compensation) technology that monitors the temperature to automatically adjust output when conditions change. In other words, this unit measures the humidity and turns on and off based on your chosen preset user selectable setting much like a thermostat does for heating and cooling.
The only negative to this machine is that the water tank is undersized for the unit and awkward to handle. Once removed, the odd shape makes it difficult to refill and prevent tipping. Additionally, it is nearly impossible to remove the tank without dripping water all over the floor because while installed in the unit, it actually sits in a pool of water; so just be sure to immediately wipe the base of the tank.
