The Vicks Pure Warm Mist Humidifier (with auto shut-off) boils water to a pure stream vapor that is up to 96% bacteria free which then goes to the cooling chamber where it mixes with dry air to finally release warm, moist air into the room. The attached medicine cup allows the use of respiratory medicines, inhalants, or essential oils to produce a medicated or aromatic vapor. There is no filter or parts that need to be replaced; just regular, weekly maintenance to be performed. Compared to most warm mist humidifiers, this one is fairly inexpensive. You get what you pay for, though, so this isn’t a machine that will last a lifetime, especially with regular, frequent use.
Nearly all humidifiers are tap water safe; however, the harder your tap water, the more white-dust buildup you will get in the room as well as inside the humidifier. If this happens, simply switch to filtered or distilled water.
